Fine Vine

(Outfit Details: Sweater, 360 Cashmere; Jeans, Tommy Hilfiger; Yellow Rain Boots, Hunter; Bag, Chloe)

Hello!

The past weekend me and the girls when on a day trip to Hunter Valley. It's about 2.5 hours out of Sydney and famous for it's vineyards. Sydney had been having the worst weather, windy, rainy and chilly. So I had put on my hunter rain boots and cashmere sweater in preparation for the same horrible weather in Hunter Valley. To our pleasant surprise, the weather cleared out and it was sunny for almost the entire time we were there! Still I was happy to be wearing my rain boots out since I rarely get a chance to wear them in LA.

We went to three vineyards and wandered around in the village. The tour we went on was with Colorful Trips. It was around $100, one of the cheaper day tours of Hunter Valley I feel like we did not get the most out of the day. If I get the chance, I'd like to go on a wine making tour and actually get my hands on the grapes, maybe a different season? The same tour company does a Blue Mountains trip which we took on our first week here in Sydney and really loved.

I didn't really put much thought into the outfit, it was purely put together for my comfort and warmth :). The cashmere sweater I got for $99 from Gilt, such a bargain! It's oversized but so soft and so warm! I love this pair of Tommy Hilfiger jeans, usually this brand is too preppy for me but I fell in love with these when I first tried them on! The jeans are really soft and stretchy with a mid-rise waist, it's kind of a cross over between jeggings and cigarette legs, highly recommended! I have had this Chloe bag for at least 3 years now, it's pretty worn but I kept it for the color. Last but not least, my boots!!! Ever since I got my yellow car (Shelly), I've been buying a lot of bright yellow pieces, like the Yellow Carlos Falchi Bag since here. When I don't have a lot of time to put together an outfit in the morning, I just throw on some plain pieces (jeans/shorts and a tank top usually) and put on one of my bright pieces, so simple yet looks put together, like everything is built around the bright piece.

I can't believe my internship in Sydney is coming to an end! I will organize all the pictures I took and put some more up in the next few days :)

Love,

Kiko

Just a little animal

Hello!

Every piece in this outfit have been on the blog before! The silk shirt is a vintage from Etsy, belt is from Nastygal.com, jeans from UO, bag from the Cambridge Satchel Company. What I love about this outfit is the subtlety of the animal print and the fact that it goes with the red satchel, when usually these two strong elements may be a bit overpowering.

I might be a little late to catch up on the fashion trend, but lately I've been wearing this pair of high waisted jeans a lot. Partly because it's one of the 3 pairs of jeans I packed to Sydney with me, but mostly because I love the way it lifts up my legs. These jeans are not the most flattering so if you're not very comfortable showing your legs in a pair of skin-tight jeans, you may want to look for the perfect pair elsewhere.

Nude seems to be the color of the season, although it isn't great on everyone. Many of my really pale friends complain that they disappear in nude and that it's a color for tanned girls only. I disagree, I think when someone with pale skin wears nude, the outfit gains that extra clarity. So I do encourage everyone to wear nude! You can never go wrong with a nude button down! When in doubt, wear chunky jewelry to give the outfit a focus point.

The necklace says "Love Works", it's made out of the same material as a guitar pick and I got it at the Silverlake Jubilee a few days before I left LA. I love wearing slogan tees, slogan jewelry, but it's rare to find one with a message that I want to be associated with. Love Works is definitely one message I firmly believe in. I think it's a great piece that can turn an outfit from plain to edgy!

I'm thinking about putting up more night outfits, stay in tuned :)

Love,

Kiko

Winter Sun

Tank top from Urban1972 ; Leopard Belt from NastyGal; BDG High Waisted Cigarette Jeans from UO; USC colored handbag (Cardinal and Gold!) by Carlos Falchi; Tribal Tiki Ring from Modcloth; Pink Stone Ring from Sportsgirl.

Hello!

I've made a little change to the format of my blog! Instead of taking a paragraph to tell you where I got my things, I will list it under the last picture and spend some more time talking about why I've put these pieces in one outfit :)

So I woke up this Monday (day off! Yay!) and realized that it was sunny outside! After a week of cloudy and rainy weather, I was so happy to put on some nice clothes and explore the city some more. These pictures were taken on my balcony with the self-timer. My photographer friend tried to teach me how to blur the background and make the subject stand out via facebook chat and it worked! Just look at the picture with the rings' details! I couldn't really do the same effect with the full body shots because the balcony was not long enough for me to zoom on the way in on the camera and use the effect. But still the sunshine made the pictures look so glossy and pretty!

Here's the bad news, about two afters after I left the apartment, it started raining :(. I was walking around in my tank top in the freezing rain and that was not a great feeling. I should've known, it is winter after all.

I'm huge on colorful statement pieces and when I saw this USC colored Carlos Falchi bag on Gilt I just had to buy it. The yellow looks great under the sun and on a night out in the dark and I love the size of it! I can fit so much stuff inside! This is the bag I usually take with me when I want to carry my Nikon around to take pictures.

Because the bag is such a strong piece it would probably outshine any other color or bulky jewelry I add, I decided to go for subtle accessories: the leopard belt, mainly used to separate the blue and white; the two rings, just to give the outfit a little depth. My flats are also leopard printed to match the belt, but I think a pair of colorful sandals may also do the trick. I have the perfect pair of sandals that are unique and compliments the bag really well, but I left them in my studio in LA :(.

Now the tank top and the choice of a black bra. Lately there's been a growing trend of wearing "see-through" tops, may it be sheer cotton tops, sheer silk button downs, all-over lace tops or tops that are slashed in the middle. I would always where a nude bra with button downs (see previous posts) to get a more classy look, but when it comes to a sheer tank top like the one I was wearing, I see no reason to wear a nude bra because the edges of the bra would show through the side (the sides are cut very low) and wearing a black bra, in my opinion, turns a normal outfit into something that has a lot more attitude. The tank top itself is long enough to wear as a dress, so it was a bit of a work stuffing them into my form-fitting jeans, haha. I'm on the look out of getting a new white tank top, but this one is just so comfy!

If you're looking for more tips on how to wear sheer tops, I think Rumi from Fashion toast does it really well. Check her out :)
